






High-level price control meeting was held on 15th November, 2024 by the worthy Chief Secretary Balochistan at Secretariat aiming to control the escalating prices of essential commodities in the province. In the meeting, worthy Secretary Industries & Commerce, Dura Baloch, respected DG Industries Anees Tariq Gorgaij, Honorable Director Industries Iqbal Sarparah and Deputy Commissioners of all districts were present.
A thorough performa of essential commodities was made including wheat, milk, pulses, fruits and vegetables. All DCs were asked to conduct inspections to control inflation, and submit their reports to industries department on weekly basis because price regulation, monitoring, data collection, and reporting are key responsibilities of the industries department. Thus, DG industries Anees Tariq Gorgaij and Director Iqbal Sarparah have hired a team to collect and compile the data. Every week, they present the report to Chief secretary. Apart from that, DG industries Anees Tariq Gorgaij has also directed his price control team in all districts to regularly conduct surveys and monitor local markets to ensure accuracy and efficiency. It will foster collaboration with local authorities and help to create a suitable environment for businesses and consumers. Hence, industries department is playing an effective role in safeguarding the economic well-being of the community.
According to the reports of industries department, from October 4 to 17 November, nearly 7973 inspections, 2, 106,650 fines and 356 arrests were done across Balochistan. Furthermore, the department is working closely with other government agencies to develop strategies for price stabilization, ensuring that policies are effectively communicated and implemented. In conclusion, industries department is optimist that their joint efforts will drive success to prevent poor people from further going below the poverty line due to inflation. It is ensuring timely data collection and submission, market surveys and consumer protection.
